Outer Tank

DESCRIPTION:

The OUTER tank's main function is to contain the water used by the INNER tank to create the required flow of water that  draws surface water inwards and downwards, extracting floating debris on the surface of the water. It is a basic component of the "Proof of Concept" prototype that demonstrates exactly how floating PLASTIC POLLUTION is extracted from rivers, tributaries, lakes, and the Gulf of Thailand.

DIMENSIONS:

This OUTER Tank has a 500mm diameter,  a height of 400mm, and a wall thickness of 3mm. It has a 10mm strengthening lip at the top of the tank, and a reinforced, two-level base at the bottom which has support blocks, each 14mm in height.

FEATURES:

(1) The tank has a standard garden hose plug for filling and draining water.

(2) The tank has a water flow splitter near the water inlet to disperse the initial strong water flow when filling the tank.

(3) The tank has five (5) waterproof electrical connectors to power the miniature motor/propellers.

SCREW HOLES:

(1) There are ten (10) Screw holes of 3.2mm that are provided ABOVE the tank floor for attaching the INNER Tank to the base of the OUTER Tank.

(2) There are eleven (11) larger screw holes of 5mm are provided UNDERNEATH for attaching the OUTER Tank to the "demonstration" table.

SUPPORT BLOCKS:

(1) As mentioned in DIMENSIONS above, the OUTER TANK has a two-level base that uses support blocks to strengthen the tank. There is one (1) central  circular support block between the two levels that has a screw hole underneath.

(2) There are also ten (10) other radial  circular/rectangular support blocks between the two levels that have the same screw holes underneath. This enables the OUTER TANK to be secured to the demonstration table with eleven (11) screws from underneath.

(3) There are also another twenty (20) radial  semi-circular/rectangular support blocks around the perimeter of the OUTER TANK base. These are required to maintain the integrity of the OUTER TANK. There are five (5) miniature motor/propellers in operation inside the INNER TANK. These units are small, but powerful. With 100 watts of power each, together they consume 500 watts to create a strong downwards water flow. The OUTER TANK must be strong, so the base is supported with these thirty-one (31) support blocks.

(4) The two horizontal images immediately below show a cross section of the support blocks in both PLAN VIEW and SIDE VIEW to explain how they are used in the OUTER TANK design.

Most of the OUTER Tank can be extruded from a 2D TOP Autocad projection.
